About Rick's Case

Rick had been correctly informed by his previous dentist the broken front tooth would be difficult to restore and made to look natural. She was conservative and felt a crown would be a lot of work for a fracture that size and besides… it gave him character.

Prior to restoring the fractured tooth, his teeth were whitened by using an at-home whitening technique. The composite resin was layered and placed to emulate the natural layers of the human tooth, thus allowing it to blend and match his natural teeth.

Doctor's Notes

Presented with: Rick did not like the appearance of his chipped front tooth. Even though he disliked "the character" it gave him, he luckily had a dentist that knew her limitations, but also discouraged extreme restorations such as crowns or porcelain veneers. Rick did his homework and realized there were alternatives and a composite resin bonding/veneer was the answer.

Treatment: The tooth was thoroughly evaluated for further fracturing and cracking, and then his teeth were whitened with an at-home whitening technique. The composite resin was layered and placed to emulate the natural layers of the human tooth, thus allowing it to blend and match his natural teeth.

"I had a nice chip on my front tooth. Some people said it gave me character, but that is not the character I want to be remembered by. Dr. Andreaus made it easy. Now I smile without reservation."
